Nurturing Two Worlds: Motherhood and Career

Nurturing Two Worlds: Motherhood and Career

In this fast-paced world, where every minute counts toward productivity and efficiency, finding balance between one’s professional passion and personal responsibilities can both be rewarding and challenging. This journey intertwines with the joy and fulfillment of being a mother, in my case, to two wonderful children.

Consulting isn’t just about technology. It’s about transforming and empowering businesses to thrive in the digital age. As a consultant, I have the privilege of collaborating with diverse clients, understanding their unique processes and challenges, and crafting solutions that streamline their operations and enhance efficiency. Every project brings me new opportunity to make a valuable impact.

Beyond the equally thrilling and demanding world of Consulting lies my most cherished domain – motherhood. Balancing the demands of a career while nurturing two young souls is a delicate art. It requires meticulous planning, unwavering dedication, a supportive network, and a resilient mind.

Being a mother has enriched my perspective as a consultant. Managing our household and raising children seamlessly manifest to managing deadlines and multitasking. Qualities nurtured through motherhood such as patience, empathy, and accountability find practical application in client interactions and team collaborations.

I find that the key to balancing these passions lies in integration rather than separation. I have learned to align my professional goals with my family’s needs and cultivated a routine and environment that allow me to execute my responsibilities well in both.

Here are a few strategies that worked for me:

  1. Clear Boundaries: Define specific work hours and family time to maintain a balance between both. Communicate with your family your working hours so they know when you are not readily available for play time and errands, and with your employer and clients so they understand when you are available.
  2. Time Management: Planning your work deliverables and your household responsibilities will lead to structured routines and will therefore achieve both personal and professional milestones.
  3. Stay Organized: Maintain calendars and to-do lists to ensure nothing important is missed.
  4. Support Networks: Build a support system both at work and at home for when there’s a need for crucial unexpected events.
  5. Flexible Work Arrangement: I have long explored (and finally found!) for a true remote work so I can always be with my children while fulfilling my work.
  6. Self-Care: Take care of your own physical and mental health. Balancing work and motherhood can be exhausting and demanding, so ensure a schedule to decompress and relax.

As a working professional and a mother, I’ve come to appreciate the synergy between these roles. Being present for my children, teaching them good manners and life skills, nurturing and spending quality time with them, while bringing valuable impact to my clients bring me so much sense of fulfillment and joy.

Not all days went according to plans, but I have learned to embrace and dance with life’s fluidity. We all have multiple roles to fulfill in our own lives and at the end of the day, we’ll know if we’re on the right track when regardless of being exhausted, our hearts are happy and satisfied.

I love that I am not just a mother but also a professional, and that both worlds allow me to.
